110 years of organized tourism – Malinska on island of Krk, Croatia
Malinska is a settlement in the west coast of the island of Krk and the center of county Malinska- Dubašnica. The name Malinska comes from the 15th century when a mill was built there, after which the place was named. It has about 260 sunny days annually with characteristics of mild, Mediterranean climate. It is situated in a forested bay, thus protected from cold winds.
Malinska became one of the most developed tourist settlements in the island of Krk. Situated 13 kilometers north of the town of Krk, in a bay full of forests and several beautiful pebble and sandy beaches, it offers accommodation in private houses, hotels, camps, villas with pools and boarding houses.
Summer months in Malinska are very lively. The place offers a lot of content and attracts tourists from nearby places on the island, especially younger generations. The ones preferring peace and quiet are more likely to enjoy pre-season and late season. That’s the period ideal for the ones who love hiking and bicycling. There are over 50km of hiking trails in the Malinska area. Bicycling is possible in most promenades too, and throughout the year bicycling races are being held for the ones willing to spice up their vacation with some adrenalin and adventure.
This year the County Tourist Board (TZO) Malinska-Dubašnica on the island of Krk is celebrating 110 years of organized tourism.
