Four island MTB race
Mitas Adria 4 Island MTB Stage Race is a mountain bike race, this year held for the fifth time, between 9th and 13th of April. It’s being held on 4 islands (Krk, Rab, Cres and Lošinj) and each of the islands is a separate stage. It is ridden in teams of 2 cyclists in the following categories: men (18-39 yrs), women (18+ yrs), masters (40-49 yrs), grand masters (50+ yrs) and mix (man and woman, 18+ years).
Anyone can join the race, whether they are professionals or recreational cyclists.
On the first day of the race, April 9th, a prologue will be held in Baška- a brief track of only 13km based on which the starting positions of each team will be determined for the first stage on the following day.
On Wednesday, April 10th, the first stage is scheduled, held on the island of Krk. It is 72km long, ridden from Baška via Vrbnik, Risika, Polje, Dobrinj, Garica, to the town of Krk.
The second stage is held on the 3rd day, April 11th, on the island of Rab, and it requires more endurance than technical knowledge. It starts from Lopar via Rab, Suha Punta, Kalifront, Kampor, and back to Lopar. The stage is 65km long.
On April 12th, the third stage is scheduled and it is ridden on the island of Cres. It is 73km long and quite challenging technically and mentally. The starting point is Merag, going via Cres, Valun, Lubenice, Martinšćica, Ustrine, Murtovnik, all the way to Osor.
The last stage, on the last day, the last island, April 13th on the island of Lošinj, will be ridden on a 40km long track, starting from Mali Lošinj via Vela Straža, Sv. Ivan, Balvanida, Veli Lošinj and back to Mali Lošinj. Although it’s the shortest, do not be fooled- it is by far the most intense stage.
The competitors are to expect physically and mentally challenging race, demanding terrain, narrow tracks covered in rocks and gravel, difficult climbs, and they will also be left to the weather conditions as they are. Despite all that, they will be able to enjoy an unforgettable view of the Bay of Kvarner and the beautiful, dazzling scenery riding along the tracks on the Adriatic coast and places over a thousand years old, meet our culture and people and taste the traditional food of this area.
5 days, 4 islands, 4 stages, 600 competitors, 300 couples, almost 300km of tracks and over 5500m of difference in altitude. We wish all the competitors best of luck. If you are planning to compete or just observe, check our accommodation offer.
