Visit the Interpretation Center of the Maritime Heritage and experience the charm of sailing

The Interpretation Center of the Maritime Heritage reveals the long and rich maritime tradition of the island of Krk. The Center consists of a ship model making workshop and an exhibition area where you can find exhibits of Željko Skomeršić, famous Krk ship model maker and collector. In the exhibition area you are going to see white bulletin boards with a history overview of the maritime development of the island of Krk. The anteroom of the ship model making workshop is intended for familiarizing with the vessel modelling process, and here even the youngest of visitors have the opportunity to draw their own vessel. In the central part, materials and models from Skomeršić collection have been gathered together with different documents of use, items, ship equipment, tools, recordings, books, and photographs. The impression is complemented with multimedia content. A didactic application with a sailing simulation and a projection of photo and video content from traditional vessel regattas and sailor meetings give the Center added value because they create complete experience with all the senses.

Another authentic traditional tourist product with the aim of preserving, protecting, and promoting the maritime heritage of the Northern Adriatic that has been used to protect and present existing maritime heritage. The Center is meant both for children and adults, which is why we recommend you to visit within a family trip. It’s important to mention that the Interpretation Center is located in the old town of the city of Krk, a maritime city of extraordinary and recognizable maritime heritage, where the first sailing club has been formed back in 1876.
