The time that is coming is by many the most beautiful time of the year, the time everyone is looking forward to, the Christmas time. The customs, the scents, the tastes and the tradition that is carved all over Croatia, left different features everywhere, including our “golden” island, the island of Krk. Advent in Krk
In December, the island of Krk comes back to life and numerous events, exhibitions and concerts are organized for its visitors. Lavishly decorated streets, promenades and the cutest squares in many places on the island of Krk attract many tourist and visitors, especially the lovers of the holiday magic by the sea. In the town of Krk you can expect a multitude of events for all generations, especially for the youngest ones who are the most genuinely looking forward to the holiday spirit.
Five metres tall Advent bauble with as many as 10000 Christmas lights is definitely going to be one of the main photo motifs, along with the Cinderella carriage and 3 Advent photo points, so better prepare your phone battery. Advent in Opatija
As well as many cities that become popular tourist destinations during the Advent, Opatija too has made efforts to organize many events in December. The art pavilion Juraj Šporer is an excellent corner for all generations. Here you can enjoy musical programmes, workshops and children’s plays, all the while enjoying the scent of mulled wine with cinnamon from the neighbouring stands. Next stop is the Summer stage where you can find the ice skating rink. There are wooden booths with food, drinks and souvenirs all around the rink.
Many locals love going to the market, to the so-called “Advent na Mrkate” where you can traditionally expect an excellent gastronomic offer and programme for all generations, from the children’s choir, a DJ, an illusionist and a handicraft fair to karaoke and hanging out with the mayor.
