Conquer the highest peak of the island of Krk – Obzova
The Obzova peak is at an elevation of 569 m above sea level and is part of the western massif of the island of Krk. It is situated in the southeast, dividing the Bašćanska dolina valley from the Puntarska draga cove. Climbing to the peak is possible from a few starting points:
Treskavac – Veli vrh – Obzova 1:30h
Bašćanska Draga – Obzova 2h
Punat (Prgon) – Obzova 2:20h
For those of you who, during hiking, catch the time written on the hiking maps, you should know it indicates moderate walking uphill without stopping for a break. So, when you engage in a hiking adventure, be careful of the time and roughly calculate the time period you need for each leg of the trail. The predicted time needed to pass all the walking trails is 12 days, during daily trips that last between four and six hours. Along with the well-marked walking trails, a map is certainly needed to make moving along the trails easier.
To conclude, here are a few more pointers that we all know well, but sometimes need to be reminded of, especially after a long break from hiking and staying outdoors.
It’s important to emphasize that colder weather is coming and it’s crucial to use adequate clothing and footwear. Wear sturdy footwear and adjust your clothing to the changing seasons. Also bring enough liquid, food, and other items that would be good to have in your backpack in case of an unexpected situation. It is also preferable to go on an adventure with company, to follow the marks on the site and only walk along marked trails.
